BCN 4709C - Construction Project Management

Course Description

BCN 4709C is a required course for all graduating seniors in the Construction Management program. The course is designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving students an opportunity to apply project management principles to the control of construction projects. The course also exposes students to more advanced construction management topics, such as production planning, value management, risk identification and tracking, and decision-making processes.

Instructional Areas

Upon completion of the course, students will demonstrate their ability to:

  • Understand project control processes by identifying the methods used to establish and maintain production, cost, and schedule control.
  • Identify the major elements of a quality control/quality assurance program.
  • Describe the underlying principles of the project delivery process.
  • Recognize the processes of construction risk management.
  • Employ electronic based technology to document and manage the construction process.
  • Analyze ethical issues faced by construction professionals.
